ABOUT

Renee Bonthron, Professional Dog Trainer

My goal is to help people develop rewarding relationships with their dogs in a simple, fun and kind way. I can show you how working with your dog's natural motivators is key to a happy dog that's united with your training goals.

I have over 10 years of experience in practical dog training. I trained dogs for the S.P.CA and fostered dogs before working in a professional capacity as a certified narcotic detector dog handler for NZ Customs. I later worked as part of the detector dog training team, developing new handlers and dogs alike.

In recent years, I've spent many hours working pro bono to refine my coaching skill-set for the pet dog owner. I'm passionate about helping people and their dogs build that close working relationship and I look forward to meeting you and your dog.

I have a Massey University qualification in the Principles of Canine Behaviour and I use science based methodology in my approach to dog training. I also have a Certificate in Canine Enrichment from Canine Principles.

I also hold a Certificate in Adult Tertiary and Education Teaching which is a huge advantage in being able to break dog training methodology into human context that people can easily understand and incorporate in their lives.
